Quality Control System Operative Unit (O.U) and Continuous Personnel Training Department is under the direct control of the  General Management.   

It is responsible for verifying and cooperating with all laboratories in the Institute, to guarantee the correct application of Quality control system indications; thanks to this work, the Sicily IZS Institute obtained ACCREDIA accreditation in 1999, N°0246.  The Institute is careful to follow all regulations included  in  UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025 : 2005.

The Quality Control System O.U., by carefully checking all laboratory practices, actively  contributes to the satisfaction the public gains from the services the Institute provides, both nationally and within the European Union. It also guarantees the absolute competence, independence and  impartiality of all work performed by the IZS laboratories.

Quality is not possible without adequate training, and the Unit also organizes refresher courses for  Institute personnel, in order to reach annual objectives.

Furthermore, as from 2001, as part of the Continuous Education in Medicine Project (CEM) by the Ministry of Health, the Operative Unit organised several ECM events, available not only to internal personnel but also to other Health Institute employees.
